Certified organic buckwheat hulls
Buckwheat is a fruit related to the rhubarb family. When properly milled, the hulls are extremely clean and manipulatable. They support your head and neck by simply moulding to your contours. They don’t fall away throughout the night, remaining in place while you sleep. Our buckwheat hulls are “crack milled”. This process holds the cup shape of each hull. This retains their spring-like integrity, providing substantial support in our pillows. On average, the hulls will retain their strength for about ten years before flattening. Processes such as “roll milling” flatten the hulls and reduce the therapeutic reliability and support required for your muscles to relax. Lying on a buckwheat hull pillow relaxes your muscles, allowing you to fall asleep faster. Many people find that they don’t toss and turn throughout the night, and they tend to wake up in the same position they fell asleep in. You’ll sleep more soundly and wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day.
Caring for your Harvest Pillow is a breeze! Wash the casings and simply air out the pillow. Place it outside in the fresh air on a sunny day, from time to time. Sunlight is a natural sanitizer. Do not machine wash, as the hulls expand greater than the cotton shell and it may burst.
Snoring & allergies?
Snoring—With the head fully back and the neck properly supported, your alignment is straightened and air passages are cleared of mucous. The dust-mite-free pillow also reduces nasal congestion.
Allergies—Buckwheat is not a grain… it is a fruit, related to the rhubarb family. It is dust mite free, as the hulls are too loose and too cool for dust mites.
Neck pain, muscle tension & headaches?
Neck pain & muscle tension—The hulls conform to the shape of your head and neck area, providing uniform support and eliminating pressure points.
Headaches—When your muscles are properly supported, they relax. This reduces restrictions in your blood vessels, which tends to lower your blood pressure, a major cause of stress related issues such as headaches.
Why are buckwheat pillows so good for you?
The support provided by the buckwheat hulls is the result of movement from many individual hulls. The hulls act like sand on the beach and mold to your contours. Unlike a preformed pillow, buckwheat hull pillows conform to your shape… rather than you conforming to it. Your head, neck and spine rest in their natural position and you relax. You’ll enjoy a cool sleep as air passes through the hulls – reducing any perspiration and “hot flashes”, even on a hot summer evening.
